Ramón Allones
The pioneer of the Habano branding!
Easily recognizable by its colorful logo, the cigar brand Ramón Allones was launched in 1845 and is one of the oldest ones in Cuba. Moreover, its production has never been discontinued, even during difficult historic periods, such as the Revolution or the World Wars.
Historically the cigars were manufactured in La Eminencia Factory in Havana. However, in 1927 the brand was purchased by Partagás and the production moved to Partagás factory, where cigars are still made.
Cigars Ramón Allones are highly appreciated for their supreme quality and their powerful aromas. All the leaves for vitolas come from the region of Vuelta Abajo. All the cigars are made "Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga".
Apart from producing exceptional cigars, the founders Ramón and Antonio Allones were successful marketers. The cigar box, as we know it today, was completely revolutionized by the brothers as they established a tradition of decorated cigar boxes. From a simple container a cigar box turned into an embellished object that represents the Habano identity. In this way, Ramón Allones managed to set his brand apart, highlighting its uniqueness with "habilitaciones" – decorations on printed paper. For example, "vista", found on the inner side of the box lid, was introduced at that time. In addition to that, Ramón Allones cigars were among the first ones to bear a band, an important element of a Habano.
Another innovation on the market was the introduction of a cedar box containing 25 cigars, as until the 1840s Habanos were sold in bundles of 50 or 100 cigars. This new format, indispensable nowadays, was commercialized in the proportion of "8-9-8" on three levels and completely transformed the box design.
By all means, Don Allones’ influence on the cigar world has spread on a wide range of fields and is still effective nowadays. Not only he made a significant contribution to the development of the lithographic industry, but also he changed the perception of a cigar: it became a piece of luxury, a precious gift.
