The brand’s first vitola adorned with a prestigious black and gold band!

The Gran Reserva series welcomes its new vitola: the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona Gran Reserva. Since 2009, when this series was launched, Habanos S.A has been selecting an iconic vitola from one of the global brands every odd year. Meanwhile, even years are devoted to Reserva.

The Gran Reserva cigars are made with carefully selected tobacco leaves that have undergone a fermentation process of at least five years (whereas it’s three years for Reserva). Therefore, this new vintage is made with the leaves harvested in 2013: Cosecha 2013.

Like all the prestigious Gran Reserva vitolas, the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona is dressed with a second black and gold band having the initials G and R stamped all over it. It is thus easy to distinguish it from its standard version which is of the same size and bears the same main band. The logo formed by the initials is also present on a typical Gran Reserva box, covered with a glossy black lacquer.

The production of the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona Gran Reserva is limited to 5,000 boxes of 15 cigars only.

A comparison with the "standard" Double Corona is inevitable. The first puffs are strong and rich, and the notes of spices and leather are well present. The cigar offers a complex range of flavors while gradually rising in strength. The finish is simply delicious.

This Prominentes can easily be short-listed for a very closed circle of legendary cigars.
