Tesseron Extrême Rare Cognac
The family's heritage presented in a small 1.75 liter "dame-jeanne".
In the Southwest of France, in the Charente region, in the land of Cognac, there is a property straddling two Crus, the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne. This property is that of the Tesseron family, acquired by Abel Tesseron in the 19th century with the aim of making rare and prestigious cognacs. Fresh and humid, the cellar of the estate is in fact the former crypt, placed under the choir of the church of Châteauneuf-sur-Charente. This is where the family treasure lies: a unique collection of the finest cognacs. A tradition perpetuated by his son Guy and his grandson Alfred, who now runs the company.
This treasure allowed him to build a strong reputation and attract the greatest cognac merchants, who used his eaux-de-vie to perfect their blends. Today, thanks to this heritage, deeply rooted in the purest cognac tradition, the family business sells more and more of its cognacs under the name of Tesseron. These cognacs have the particularity of being listed in "lot" (batches), synonymous with blends from the best family reserves.
These batches are made by the "maître de chai" of the Maison, Jacky Martial. He knows the character of each cask with his deep insight and knowledge. Each cask is different and has its own personality, even if the eau-de-vie it contains is distilled on the same day from the same grape variety. Tesseron cognacs are distinguished by their rare complexity, obtained by the dosage of the three grape varieties that make them up: Ugni Blanc for roundness, Folle Blanche for finesse and Colombard for power and depth. Each grape variety and each cask confers a particular nuance to the ultimate blend.
The Tesseron "Extrême" that we present to you today embodies the quintessence of this art of marriage. The brandies that make it up come from the oldest reserves in Abel Tesseron's private collection. They have been aged for more than three generations in Limousin oak barrels, themselves several hundred years old. These eaux-de-vie of exceptional quality and unrivalled character are then collected in 25-liter "dames-jeannes" to perfect their aging in the cellars of the Maison Tesseron.
Tesseron "Extrême" is a unique creation whose production is so confidential that it does not exceed 300 bottles per year. This real treasure is presented in a small 1.75 liter "dame-jeanne", a replica of those in which the cognac rests while waiting for the delicate operation of assembling.
Velvety and supple on the palate, its smoothness is exceptional and only equalled by its depth of infinite complexity. Its round and harmonious rancio nose is obtained thanks to the long years of ageing in oak barrels. It blossoms in waves with numerous secondary aromas whose tonalities intensify for a long time to lead to a finish of incomparable softness.
The intense emotion that you will feel when tasting this extraordinary Cognac comes from the most beautiful hillsides of Grande Champagne. An extraordinary, not to say, extreme tasting!
Timeless, this cognac is for the Maison Tesseron, the way to lock a part of its history in a bottle...
