Montecristo Línea 1935 Humidor
A humidor specially created in honour of the brand's most exclusive line.
The Montecristo brand is generally considered to be the best known and perhaps most appreciated of the Habanos brands. Thus, every novelty launch is an event, as was the case in 2018 for the Línea 1935. Such a launch was also an opportunity for Habanos to create a special humidor, in the image of this new line. Habanos commissioned Gentili Fabrizio Srl, an Italian case manufacturer with almost 40 years of experience in the field.
Regarding the 1935 Line: Introduced by Habanos, it is at the top of the Montecristo range. Its name is a celebration of the brand's heritage, 1935 being the year of its creation. It is composed of three distinct vitolas, two of which feature new formats. The Dumas, a Prominente Corto (49 x 130 mm), the Maltés, a Sobresalientes (53 x 153 mm) and the Leyenda, a Maravillas No.2 (55 x 165 mm) which takes up the format of the Montecristo 80 Aniversario, released in 2015 in a limited edition to commemorate the brand's 80th anniversary.
Each of these cigars is presented in a box with a design never before seen in the Habanos portfolio. It offers a meticulous presentation, enhanced by a caramel-coloured lacquered finish and has the particularity of having all its edges bevelled. These were an important source of inspiration for Gentili when he designed the Montecristo Línea 1935 humidor that we present to you today.
Finally, to underline the exclusive character of the line, each cigar is dressed with a triple band. The first band is the traditional band of the brand; a second with the inscription Línea 1935, underlined with the name of the vitola, and a last one, affixed to the base of the cigar stamped with the traditional fleur-de-lys, the distinctive sign of the brand since its creation.
Back to the humidor; made in Italy by Gentili in solid cedar in only 1'935 pieces, it offers a capacity of approximately 60 cigars. In fact, it was originally designed to hold a box of each of the modules of Línea 1935: Maltés, Dumas and Leyenda. Its rarity and remarkable level of finish make it a real object of desire for the brand's aficionados. It is accompanied by the caramel-coloured ashtray, also bearing the Línea 1935 logo.
Like all Gentili products, the humidor is characterised by a unique and unmistakable design. Each side of the humidor is bevelled and covered with a dark brown varnish, reminiscent of the caramel-coloured lacquer of the Línea 1935 boxes. The gold-coloured Montecristo logo proudly rests on the top of the box. Inside, there is a removable compartment, also made of cedar, which fits perfectly into the interior of the humidor. The whole is completed by a humidification system, a hygrometer and an accompanying plate on which the number of the humidor is finely engraved. Each piece is unique!
Each of the 1,935 humidors is entirely hand-made and taken care of in every detail by these master cabinetmakers. Before they were put on sale, they were individually subjected to the strictest quality controls. Once again, the craftsmen of the Gentili workshops have demonstrated their expertise.
At the beginning of the 1980s, the founder of the company, Fabrizio Gentili, worked in an important watchmaking company, where he acquired the knowledge and passion for watchmaking, but above all the sense of detail and precision required by this particular sector. From this experience was born the desire to make his own cases. Today, the company works for major watchmaking houses but also in the goldsmith's, art and of course cigar sectors.
