Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart

One of the smallest Champagne producers, who work with the most renowned restaurants in the world.

Located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in the commune of Ludes, the Ployez-Jacquemart family business has been created in 1930 by Marcel Ployez, an architect and his wife, Yvonne Jacquemart. All very passionate about wine, they decided to build their dream based on their vision of Champagne. This vision has now become the soul of the maison : a very rigorous approach to wine making. The care given to the production of the vine and the endless search for quality can go as far as to green harvest, if need be, only to improve even more so the precious harvest. At Ployez-Jacquemart, high standards are a constant in the wine producing process.

Indeed, although Ployez-Jacquemart is one of the smallest establishments in the Champagne region, they also own and operate their very own 3 hectares vineyard, located in the terroirs of Ludes, Mailly Champagne, Villedommange and Vertus. The latter has the privilege to be classified as Premier and Grand Cru and is mainly planted with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The maison also has supplies of Chardonnay, both from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.

The partnerships consisting of different wine producers are based on long-term relationships, mostly established for the Grands Crus of Chardonnay. They heavily contribute to the improvement of the blends and allow to obtain a fantastic consistency of quality, year after year.

For over 90 years now, the care given to the grapes and the way the wines are made have not changed. The heirs of the family have been able to not only keep but make those founding values of the maison, the soul of this brand. From 1950 to 1990, Gérard, Marcel and Yvonne's son, and his wife, Claude, perpetuated these traditional ancestral know-hows, refinements, and French elegance which all represent the maison Ployez-Jacquemart so well.

Today owned by the Prieux Group, who also own Champagne Gardet, Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart is still represented by the third generation of Ployez, with Laurence, granddaughter of the founders, succeeding her father Gérard Ployez. Perpetuating her roots in the Champagne terroir, she is the discreet guardian of an unique know-how and rigorously manages the vinification and marketing of her champagnes, whilst adding her own personal touch to the mix.

Like her father, Laurence practices maturation on point with manual stirring, to limit the contact with the yeasts, and allowing some of her cuvées to age for up to ten years in the house's chalk cellars, located 25 metres below ground. At the time of disgorgement, all the cuvées are dosed with Extra Brut, a sign of recognition of the brand since its establishment.

She is the worthy daughter of her father, who left her a legacy of excellence and taught her all the facets of the trade during her childhood, from harvesting to disgorging. A courageous and determined woman, Laurence makes extraordinary wines, in the most traditional way of this noble art de vivre, these wines today can be found in the most renowned and finest establishment around the world. This, thanks to the help and support of knowledgeable sommeliers, with whom Laurence has always maintained a tight relationship since her early trials in the kitchen with the famous Lesley Stowe, a very well know caterer in Vancouver.

Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart is made according to the strictest rules to extract the very best harvest each year. The practice of hand-picking, as well as the sorting by grape variety, vintage and by parcel, are the very basis of the unique pressing at the property.

No blending, apart from the prestigious cuvée Liesse d'Harbonville, is defined in advance: each year is an opportunity to extract the very best from the harvest.

Following their core value of high quality versus large quantities, the production of the house remains confidential and does not exceed 100,000 bottles per year. Vibrant, fruity wines with clean aromas, expressing a natural balance between minerality and acidity, Ployez-Jacquemart Champagnes are certainly one of a true connoisseurs' favourite Champagnes.

The different vintages available in our cellar:

Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart - Liesse d'Harbonville: The top of the range, this cuvée requires special attention. Produced only in the great vintage years, its vinification is different, while keeping in mind to preserve the character of the harvest. Aged in 225 litre barrels, the blend is always the same. This is determined with a very strict selection of the grape musts collected during the harvest. The maturation in the barrels create a deep richness, a very nice structure and rare complexity. The natural acidity of the blend, despite a minimum of 10 years of ageing in the cellar, brings out the quintessence of the year while offering exceptional freshness.

Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart - Dosage Zéro: The use of white grapes gives this cuvée a fantastic vivacity. Unlike the rest of the range, no dosage liqueur is used during disgorgement, leaving only 0.15 gr/litre of residual sugar. The result is a fresh and dynamic blend with a very pleasant vinosity.

Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart - Cuvée Granite: The Cuvée Granite represents the memory of Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart, a unique cuvée resulting from blending great vintages of the house: 1976, 1982, 1983, 1988, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Together, all these exceptional vintages will bring forth their undeniable power and complexity. The extra Brut dosage allows the wine to express all its unique aromas, depth of flavours and its freshness. An exceptional blend!

Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart - Extra Brut Vintage 2008: Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart always aims to extract the very best from each harvest. The 2008 vintage is one of these beautiful harvests, which has allowed Ployez-Jacquemart to produce elegant and well-balanced wines with the help of the diversity and rare quality of different Chardonnays. Like all Ployez-Jacquemart vintages, it has been aged in the cellar for a minimum of 8 years, including at least 6 years on point.
