As we said in our article on the cigar that accompanied the first Cuban cosmonaut during the Intercosmos programme in 1978, man has always been fascinated by the sky. The idea of sending objects or people into space was imagined by science fiction writers hundreds of years before it was physically possible.
With this new limited edition, S.T. Dupont brings the great story of the conquest of space to life in its own way through a collection of lighters called "Space Odyssey".
This latest creation is a true celebration of this grandiose and magical theme, composed of superb instruments to light your cigar. This numbered collection is worthy of a work of art and comprises two lines: Prestige, limited to 999 pieces, and Premium, limited to 2001 pieces. The first one offers a Ligne 2 lighter, the iconic lighter of the Maison S.T. Dupont and the second, an exclusive lighter, accompanied by a set including a stand inspired by space robots and an ashtray.
Inspired by the magic of Space, the S.T. Dupont Space Odyssey lighters take us to the stars and the universe. Each piece is designed as an ode to the Milky Way.
Every detail has been designed to achieve absolute refinement, thanks to natural lacquer, palladium and micro-engravings. On each piece, the natural lacquer is manipulated to represent the galaxy. This sumptuous decoration is achieved by using a pearlescent spray on a black background and an iridescent application of light-reflecting glitter lacquer.
The Space Odyssey Prestige lighter is decorated with a transparent resin globe sprinkled with glitter. The cap of the lighter is finely worked to take the shape of a radar and each of the four corners of the body is decorated with palladium engravings.
To achieve this refined and elegant result, the craftsmen and designers were directly inspired by the galaxy, past and present space missions and rocket designs.
