Maya Selva, the visionary behind the brand, embodies a unique blend of cultures. Growing up with a Honduran father and a French mother, Maya's journey led her to study in France and the United States. In 1991, she returned to Honduras with a passion for exploring tobacco-related possibilities.
Rolling up her sleeves, Maya spent over a year immersed in the process of cigar development in Danlí, Honduras. A decisive meeting with Nestor Plasencia, a renowned tobacco grower and cigar maker, paved the way for the stringent specifications defining the production and quality of her cigars.
In 1995, the first box of Flor de Selva hit the shelves in France, quickly captivating European aficionados. The brand's Robusto earned the title of a classic by 1997. Undeterred, Maya introduced Cumpay in 1999, hailing from Nicaragua’s Jalapa Valley, followed by Villa Zamorano in 2002 from her own factory in Honduras, making a bold statement in the cigar world.
Today, Maya Selva Cigars, adorned with numerous awards, enjoys enthusiasts in over 35 countries.
