Alec Bradley Fine & Rare BC-(13)4EV
An exclusive vitola containing 10 different tobaccos.
Alec Bradley is a brand that never stops reinventing itself and innovating through its creations. In 2011, the first Fine & Rare was released: a project in constant evolution that represents a concept more than a cigar itself.
By creating the first version of Fine & Rare, Alec Bradley's founder, Alan Rubin, had the ambition to design a cigar that would feature no less than 10 different tobacco leaves, coming from different varieties and harvests. He explained that the size and shape of this special cigar would be dictated, not by his will, but by the blend itself. The cigars of this collection have been offered in various formats, although their packaging is relatively similar from a year to another, unlike the blends that are always renewed. Thus, Alan entrusted the best torcedors of the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras, with the rolling of his new vitola which contains more tobacco than any other ordinary cigar.
To celebrate the eleventh anniversary of Fine & Rare in 2021, Alec Bradley is proud to launch its brand-new box set: the BC-(13)4EV. Each year, the new editions are named after a code system, just like the previous ones: the Fine & Rare HOF / 506 from 2019, or the JRS-10 from 2018.
The BC-(13)4EV was originally supposed to be released in November 2021, but was pushed back to April 2022 due to the global pandemic. Its inventor wants this exclusivity to be a real surprise for all aficionados wanting to acquire it. That's why the company is not disclosing any details, other than their name, about the new Fine & Rare launches.
It is produced in an extremely limited quantity of 2'500 boxes, each containing 11 cigars: 10 Churchill (50 x 178 mm) and an 11th exclusive vitola which will be discovered by the amateurs once the humidor is opened. That year, it is a Belicoso named BC-(13)4EV-B.
Regarding the Churchill, it features a Honduran wrapper grown in the region of Trojes, a double wrapper made of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco, just as the filler made of 7 different tobaccos coming from Honduras and Nicaragua! However, the exact content of the blend and the used leaves are unfortunately not specified. This cigar has an excellent construction, with a smooth and slightly oily, milk chocolate colored wrapper. Its power, which is medium bodied, increases as the combustion progresses and delivers a nice black pepper, tea, cedar and fruity cake flavored smoke. The draw shows a light resistance.
Regarding the exclusive vitola BC-(13)4EV-B, it is elaborated with a different mixture which is neither specified.
The Fine & Rare BC-(13)4EV’s case is a shiny midnight blue box with a velvet lined interior. Inside, the 10 vitolas are vertically arranged, with the Belicoso, which is arranged in the center of the case, in a separate compartment.
They are dressed with a very original olive green and gold ring, that has the appearance of a stamp. The logo and the name of the brand "ALEC BRADLEY CIGAR COMPANY" are written on it. The ring also has a label that provides information about the cigar; the rolling date; the release date; the weekly production; the year of the first edition; the signature of the supervisors, rollers and approvers (Alan Rubin and Ralph Montero); the name of the blend and finally; the holographic Alec Bradley logo.
This series offers a complete set of flavors, complexity and construction that can equally conquer the connoisseurs and the casual enthusiasts.
About the brand:
Alec Bradley's story begins with a simple cigar enthusiast with no previous experience in the field. Through ambition, thirst for knowledge and hard work, Alan Rubin eventually learned all about the history, blending and culture of tobacco. He then realized his dream by creating the Alec Bradley Cigar Company, named after his sons, Alec and Bradley, in 1996.
Only 2 years later, the tobacco industry was heavily impacted by the decline of the tobacco boom and the company had to fight for its survival. However, Alec Bradley's future will take an unexpected turn thanks to an encounter with Ralph Montero, a tobacco industry professional.
In the 2000s, in order to face this crisis, Ralph proposed to join forces with Alan to change the direction of the company: they now have to make a name for themselves in the specialized retailer stores. To do so, they created a new line called "Occidental Reserve" with the help of Henke Kelner, a Davidoff cigar manufacturer.
500 samples of this new cigar were sent to different retail stores, it allowed them to gain new customers and thus, to bounce back in the industry thanks to this last chance. Then, Alec Bradley continued to develop new products such as the triangular cigar "Trilogy" which became a hit cigar, or its new line "Maxx".
The company started to experience a dazzling success, especially from 2007 when the brand experienced its greatest triumph with the introduction of a new full-bodied line called "Tempus".
Once they graduated, Alan's sons Alec and Bradley began working for the company full time while learning the business's ropes. The first works in marketing, promotions and sales support, while the second is involved in marketing and social media development. After several years of training, they developed their own blend with "Kintsugi," launched in December 2020, through a secondary line named "Alec & Bradley". In addition of creating new lines, they bring a fresh twist to the company by working on a new project that would give them the creative control of a regional exclusive to be released in their own territories.
At the end of the day, what's important to Alec Bradley is making lives a little better, during the time of a cigar, and offering to aficionados an unforgettable experience through their products. With a reputation the Rubins have spent more than two decades building, the company is truly family-oriented: "You can't imagine how proud I am. There are no words to describe how being able to work with my boys brings me joy. And my father, at 91, comes in every day, so we have three generations in the office every day" said Alec Bradley's founder, Alan Rubin , before his father's passing in 2019.
