Arturo Fuente Don Carlos

The Arturo Fuente Don Carlos cigars are named after the legendary Carlos Arturo Fuente, the patriarch and long-time president of Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic. The history of these vitolas goes back to 1976, when they first appeared on the tobacco market. Until 1997, this range offered only two modules: the Robusto and the No. 3, which were then joined by 7 other sizes: the Presidente, the Eye of the Shark, the Double Robusto, the Belicoso, the Personal Reserve Robusto, the No. 2 as well as the No. 4. The series is thus declined in 9 cigars of different sizes.

Originally, these vitolas were elaborated and blended by Don Carlos himself, then his son, Carlito, developed the line by creating new cigars in tribute to his father. The tobaccos used for the filler and binder are Dominican, while the wrapper comes from Cameroon. These leaves are aged for up to 10 years before being rolled in the family factory Tabacalera A. Fuente.

Quick review of the different cigars:

Let's start with the Robusto (50 x 127 mm): composed of tobaccos aged for several years, it delivers complex and balanced flavors of nuts, wood and cedar. Its impeccable construction allows a slow and even burn throughout the 80-minute tasting.

To continue, the No. 3 (44 x 140 mm) whose module is a Corona, is a medium strength cigar. When ignited, it delivers a unique salinity that will fade to give way to notes of cardamom and chamomile tea. The tasting is around 90 minutes.

Next, the Presidente (50 x 165 mm), a Toro, is characterized by a creamy smoke that gives off aromas of eucalyptus, walnut and a certain sweetness accented by a chocolate flavor. It offers a tasting of 65 minutes.

The Eye of the Shark (52 x 133 mm), a Torpedo presented as a box pressed, demonstrates a true symbiosis of rich, full flavors. There are notes of coffee and eucalyptus, which emanates from a perfectly constructed cigar.

Regarding the Double Robusto (52 x 146 mm), its perfectly smooth Maduro wrapper offers a consistent burn as well as a generous smoke. The draw has a slight resistance and the flavors of cedar, pepper and coffee are balanced.

Moving on to the Belicoso (52 x 137mm) it demonstrates a gourmet combination of earth, cedar, black pepper and lemon that emanates from a full-strength cigar, while offering a smooth draw and consistent burn.

The Personal Reserve Robusto (50 x 127 mm) is a medium strength cigar. Its wrapper is a rather dark shade with a slight oily sheen. The burn is slow and steady, while delivering a smoke with aromas of cedar, nuts, leather and pepper.

The vitola No. 2, a Torpedo (53 x 152 mm), benefits from an excellent construction. Once lit, it is distinguished by spicy and woody flavors that demonstrate a complex and nuanced taste. This medium strength cigar is an ideal choice for demanding aficionados.

Finally, the No. 4, whose vitola is also a Torpedo (45 x 152 mm), features an impeccably applied wrapper with a solid construction. When tasted, this cigar gives off complex and subtle aromas of nuts, wood, leather and earth.

Each of these modules is dressed in a sumptuous gold band and arranged in an elegant wooden box of 25 units. They join the regular productions of the brand.
