Cohiba Behike BHK series

The pinnacle of Cuban cigar craftsmanship.

In 2006, to commemorate its 40th anniversary, Cohiba unveiled one of the most exclusive and expensive cigars in the world—the Cohiba Behike. Limited to just 4,000 cigars, each one was meticulously rolled by a single master torcedora, Norma Fernández, at the renowned El Laguito factory in Havana. Fernández was also entrusted with crafting the unique tobacco blend, a fitting tribute to Cohiba’s four-decade legacy.

In 2010, Habanos S.A. officially launched the Cohiba Behike BHK series at the XII Habanos Festival, marking the 45th anniversary of the brand. Available in three vitolas—BHK 52, BHK 54, and BHK 56—this new line introduced an extraordinary element to its blend: Medio Tiempo leaves. Harvested from the highest sun-grown tobacco plants, these rare leaves contribute to the cigar’s distinctive strength and complexity, setting it apart from the rest of the Cohiba portfolio.

The name "Behike" traces its roots to Cuba’s indigenous Taíno tribe, where it was used to refer to a tribal chief. The Behike series, adorned with Cohiba’s signature pigtail cap, quickly established itself as one of the most sought-after and collectible cigars in the world.

Since their release, Cohiba Behike BHK cigars have been highly coveted, making them a rare sight on store shelves. The use of Medio Tiempo—a tobacco leaf that appears only on select plants—enhances the cigar’s complexity and depth, delivering an unparalleled smoking experience. This component, once blended with other ligero leaves, is now fermented separately, allowing it to impart a bolder, richer flavor profile. The result is a cigar with deep, leathery notes, an earthy core, and undertones of coffee bean, all wrapped in a smooth, creamy finish.

In February 2025, Habanos S.A. announced an exciting expansion of the Behike series at the annual Habanos Festival—the introduction of the BHK 58. This new vitola, the thickest of the range, joins the iconic lineup, offering aficionados yet another expression of this legendary blend. Alongside this release, the original BHK 52, 54, and 56 vitolas will receive updated packaging, now featuring NFC technology in the main band, reinforcing both authenticity and exclusivity.

Each Cohiba Behike BHK cigar is a testament to Cuban cigar craftsmanship, showcasing impeccable balance even in its youth. Medium to full-bodied, with refined notes of earth, spice, and creamy coffee, these cigars promise to develop even greater complexity with age—provided one can resist the temptation to smoke them immediately.
