Davidoff Dominicana
Six years of aging for a blend of tobaccos offering a complex and pleasant taste experience.
Davidoff celebrates the Dominican Republic and its cigar culture with a new line of limited edition cigars. Named Dominicana, this new line incorporates 3 different vitolas: a Short Robusto, a Robusto and a Toro, all topped with a pigtail.
Each cigar is made from a blend of five different Dominican tobaccos, harvested in 2014 and then aged. In fact, a band mentioning the year of harvest (2014) is affixed to the foot of each cigar.
The filler is made of San Vicente, Piloto Cubano and Corojo '99 tobaccos. They are held together by an Ecuadorian binder called Hybrid 151 and a wrapper grown in the Yamasá region of the Dominican Republic. Called H-257, this wrapper is made from a hybrid tobacco derived from the Dominican Yamasá H-133 wrapper, which dressed the cigars in the highly popular Puro d'Oro line, which ceased production in 2016. The whole offers a blend, exclusively made of old tobacco, with a fuller-bodied taste.
True to the promise of uncompromising quality and craftsmanship, the cigars in the Davidoff Dominicana line were rolled for more than 12 months before they were made available on the market. This extended resting period allowed the blend to reach its peak.
The bright, oily wrapper makes you want to dive into the tasting. The first third is marked by fresh spice notes, complemented by black pepper and oak. In the second third, the Ecuadorian binder brings a deep creaminess supported by subtle notes of leather and dark chocolate. The final third finishes with dried fruit flavours mingling with oak and fresh spices. This extended ageing of vintage tobaccos offers a sophisticated taste experience, both full-bodied and perfectly balanced.
With its more intense flavours, the Dominicana line is still part of Davidoff's iconic "White Band" collection, which includes the Davidoff Signature, Aniversario, Grand Cru and Millennium.
The Dominicana cigars are produced at the Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic until the 2014 tobacco stock is exhausted, in order to guarantee a perfect consistency in the result offered by the blend of tobaccos from this vintage.
