A brand-new vitola exclusively for La Casa del Habano.
After the disappearance of the very rare Inmensos in 2014, La Gloria Cubana is once again joining the circle of brands producing cigars exclusively for La Casa del Habano with a new cigar: the Glorias.
La Casa del Habano is a franchise of Habanos S.A., which to date has more than 150 "Casas" around the world. The first one was opened in 1990 in Cancún, Mexico. This international network of specialised shops distributes exclusively Habanos S.A. products. Some specialities, such as Glorias, are produced exclusively for these "Casas". These are the famous "LCDH" editions, identifiable by their double rings. In addition, new products are always available in preview.
Less well-known to the general public because of its limited vitolario, La Gloria Cubana is nevertheless considered a real jewel by informed aficionados. Indeed, with the Glorias, the brand now only offers two cigars in its catalogue: the Medaille d'Or No.4, the last survivor of the Médaille d'Or series. We call it the last survivor, because originally, the line was composed of four cigars, the Medaille d'Or No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4, all introduced before the revolution.
Although other brands, such as San Cristóbal de la Habana, offer more cigars exclusively for La Casa de Habano, La Gloria Cubana and the franchise network maintain close ties, especially since the release of the La Gloria Cubana La Casa de Habano 25 Aniversario humidor. To celebrate the 25-year history of its prestigious franchise network, Habanos introduced a La Gloria Cubana humidor in 2015 that took on the shape and colour codes of a colonial-style house.
The choice of the La Gloria Cubana brand for a production as symbolic as this one testifies to the importance of the brand to Habanos and is a true recognition of its excellence.
Back to our Glorias. Beyond the fact that the brand has used this name twice before: in the form of a Grand Corona (46 × 162 mm) featured in the brand's regular catalogue until 1970 and in 2015 in the form of a Rodolfo (54 × 180 mm) for the Glorias en Edición Regional 5ta Avenida.
The Glorias we are interested in introduces a completely new vitola, both for the brand and for Habanos. Called Flechas and measuring 49 × 156 mm, this format is not currently found in any other Habanos brand catalogue. Its measurements make it a member of the Grand Corona family and, in the end, it is a modernised reincarnation, thicker and slightly shorter, of the Glorias of old.
In keeping with tradition, and in order to reinforce its exclusive character, the Glorias are dressed in a double band: the brand's classic band and the wine-coloured band reserved exclusively for La Casa del Habano exclusives, bearing the logo representing a tobacco leaf.
