Maestranza

For 11 generations and more than 400 years, the Meerapfel family and company accumulated experience, developed new products and shared its know-how in terms of tobacco and cigars. This knowledge has been used in “Meerapfel Selection”, which includes different lines of premium cigars intended for the most exigent aficionados.

Maestranza is the last gem to join the famous Selection Meerapfel. This renowned company is in charge of the production and distribution of Maestranza cigars, whose name has several meanings: "shipyard", "armory" or "romance" as the manufacturer prefers to translate it, in honor of the rollers who assemble the cigars.

These cigars are produced in Honduras, just like their wrapper, which brings a certain sweetness to the blend. Grown in Costa Rica, the binder brings earthy aromas while the filler, which comes from Nicaragua, brings the characteristic spicy and woody side of this range. This combination of natural flavors awakens the senses with harmony and simplicity. The whole forms a medium bodied cigar whose flavors are both well-balanced and sweet.

Small review of the different cigars:

Let's start with the Maestranza Baron (42 x 130 mm), a Corona with a medium strength profile. The main notes that emerge are those of spices and leather. Its smoking time is around 50 minutes.

Next, the Maestranza Duque (62 x 152 mm) offers us an impeccable construction with its soft touch wrapper. The flavors that aromatize the smoke evolve from wood and pepper to leather and earth. This Gordo provides a smooth draw from start to finish.

Let's continue with the Maestranza Vizconde (60 x 102 mm), a Petit Gordo with a rather unusual format. Its small size offers a convenient 40-minute tasting time, but its construction is as meticulous as its congener's.

The Maestranza Marques (50 x 152 mm) is a Toro with a spicy flavor. Perfectly balanced, it will delight all the gourmet cigar lovers. The Honduran wrapper brings a certain sweetness to the cigar.

And finally, comes the Maestranza Conde (52 x 127 mm). The Nicaraguan filler of this Robusto releases aromas of spices and wood. Its wrapper is very smooth with few apparent veins, the combustion is homogeneous and offers a dense smoke and a relatively easy draw.

The complete range is composed of 5 distinct modules, all presented in a completely white wooden box, with the logo of Maestranza in gold. They each contain 10 units. The ring that dresses the vitolas is also relatively sober and has the same colors as those on the box. It is stamped with the brand’s logo which represents a warrior helmet.

In fact, this pure flavored cigar gives the comforting feeling of sharing a festive meal in family.
