Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018

The brand’s second vitola adorned with a prestigious band!

In April, Switzerland witnessed the exclusive launch of the Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018, a notable addition to the esteemed Reserva Series by Habanos S.A. This limited edition cigar, a special aged version of the regular production Montecristo Edmundo, measures 135 mm in length with a 52 ring gauge.

The Reserva Series, started in 2003 by Habanos S.A., aims to offer emblematic cigars from the regular catalogue of Habanos brands with enhanced aging. Every even-numbered year, a new Reserva cigar is unveiled during the Festival del Habano, while odd-numbered years are reserved for the Gran Reserva series, which began in 2009. Prior to 2012, the rhythm of "Reserva" cigar launches was more random, with 5 cigars in 2003 and none in 2010, for example.

Each year, Habanos S.A. selects a single regular production cigar from its largest brands to be designated as a Gran Reserva or Reserva. Although announced in specific years, the shipping of these cigars often does not align with the announcement year. Technically, the Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018 was the 2022 Reserva release.

As indicated by its name, the tobacco for this release was harvested in 2018. For a Reserva release, the tobacco undergoes a minimum of three years of aging before the cigars are rolled, followed by additional aging of the rolled cigars, much longer than a standard Montecristo Edmundo. This meticulous aging process ensures a richer, more refined smoking experience.

The Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018 is limited to 5,000 boxes of 20 cigars each. These cigars are distinguished by their silver and black additional bands and are presented in high-gloss black boxes, adding to their premium appeal.

Montecristo is no stranger to the Reserva and Gran Reserva series, having previously released the Montecristo No.4 Reserva Cosecha 2002, a Marevas vitola (42 x 129 mm), and the Montecristo No.2 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2005, rolled in Piramides size (52 x 156 mm). The Gran Reserva series, featuring tobacco aged for at least five years before rolling, offers an even more premium experience. These cigars are sold in boxes of 15 and are identified by their gold and black secondary bands.

The Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018 stands as a testament to the brand's dedication to excellence and tradition. With its meticulously aged tobacco and limited availability, it promises a unique and luxurious smoking experience for cigar aficionados worldwide.
