Second vitola of the brand to join the prestigious programme.
The Gran Reserva programme welcomes its new vitola: the Partagás Serie E No.2 Gran Reserva. With it, Partagás becomes the first brand to have two cigars in the prestigious Gran Reserva programme.
There are 2 Reserva programmes from Habanos, the original Reserva program started from 2003 with the launch of 5 special releases, and then again in 2005 and 2007 with 1 new release for these respective years. A break of 5 years until 2012 and then 1 new release every even year to the present day.
The Gran Reserva line started in 2009, with the Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva as the first launch. Habanos S.A selects an emblamtic vitola from one of the most prestigious brands and the release sticks to a fixed schedule of 1 new release every 2 years, alternating with the Reserva series.
Unlike other Habanos special productions, the Reserva and Gran Reserva cigars are from the brand's regular production catalogue.
Speaking of vitolas, it is worth noting that Partagás, which introduced it in 2010, is to date the only Habanos brand to offer the Duke in regular production. Indeed, since its first appearance in 2009, with the release of the Romeo y Julieta Dukes Edición Limitada, the Duke (54 × 140 mm) has only been produced in Edición Limitada or Edición Regional.
However, in order to be worthy of receiving the prestigious Gran Reserva distinction, the cigar in question, although from the brand's regular production, must be made only from tobacco leaves from the Vuelta Abajo, carefully selected and having undergone a fermentation process of at least five years (as opposed to three years for the Reserva). Thus, this Partagás Serie E No.2 Gran Reserva, presented in 2021, is made with leaves harvested in 2015: Cosecha 2015.
Like all the prestigious Gran Reserva vitolas, this particular Partagás Serie E No.2 has a second black and gold band on which the initials G and R are stamped. This makes it easy to distinguish it from the standard version, which has the same measurements and the specific band, stamped Serie E No.2.
The logo formed by the initials also appears on the characteristic case, which is covered in glossy black lacquer. Production of the Partagás Serie E No.2 Gran Reserva is, following the tradition, limited to just 5,000 boxes of 15 units.
