Plasencia Cosecha 149
A new line of three vitolas to commemorate the Plasencia family's 149th annual tobacco harvest.
Since 1865, the Plasencia family has been perfecting the art of growing tobacco as well as crafting cigars. From the rich lands of Cuba before the revolution to the sunny soils of Nicaragua and Honduras, five generations have been committed to providing premium cigars and continuing to build on over 150 years of tobacco heritage.
Today, the Plasencia family is one of the world's leading producers of premium tobacco with over 35 million handmade cigars per year and over 1,200 hectares cultivated in several Central American countries including Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama. Synonymous for traditional cultivation, harmoniously blended tobacco creations and sophisticated smoking pleasure, Plasencia cigars enjoy an excellent reputation in the tobacco world.
This new Cosecha 149 line is a tribute to Honduras, which the Plasencia family wanted to pay tribute in honor to the country that opened its doors to them after the Nicaraguan revolution in 1979.
The word "Cosecha", which means "harvest" in English, followed by the number 149, were used to name this new line. This simple name is, to say the least, evocative as the Cosecha 149 line of cigars are made from the Plasencia family's 149th annual tobacco harvest which took place in 2014. The family evaluated that this tobacco was now sufficiently aged, ready to be processed, and so the Cosecha 149 line was born.
Available in three vitolas, Gordito (60 x 120 mm), Robusto (52 x 125 mm) and Toro (52 x 135 mm), the Plasencia Cosecha 149 line offers rich, balanced puros and is, above all, the brand's very first all-Honduran cigar. Indeed, all the leaves that make them up were grown in the Olancho, Jamastran Valley and the Talanga regions, renowned for their fertility. Having acquired a deep, well-fermented character as they have aged since being harvested in 2014, these leaves have given birth to full-bodied cigars, medium to full strength cigars, delivering beautiful, distinct notes of cream, dark chocolate and a subtle but earthy hint of cedar.
