The world of Cuban cigars welcomes a prestigious new addition with the launch of the Ramón Allones Absolutos Edición Limitada 2024. This highly anticipated release marks the third and final Edición Limitada of the year, following the Trinidad Cabildos and the H. Upmann Magnum Finite.
The Ramón Allones Absolutos made its debut in early February at an exclusive event in Basel, Switzerland. The unveiling was led by José María López Inchaurbe, vice president of development for Habanos S.A., who took the stage to present this extraordinary creation.
What sets the Ramón Allones Absolutos apart is its vitola. Measuring 49 by 156 mm, this format—called Nuevos in Cuban cigar factories—has never before been used in the Habanos portfolio. It is presented in an elegant 20-count box, specially designed for this limited edition release.
Cigars bearing the Edición Limitada designation are renowned for their exclusivity and craftsmanship. Each release introduces a new size to the brand, crafted with tobacco from the esteemed Vuelta Abajo region in Pinar del Río. The leaves are carefully aged for a minimum of two years, ensuring a refined and complex smoking experience. These cigars are also distinguished by a secondary band that marks them as an Edición Limitada, along with the year of their release.
While Habanos S.A. does not typically disclose production numbers, these limited editions are released in restricted quantities, making them highly sought after by collectors and aficionados worldwide. After its initial launch in Switzerland, the Ramón Allones Absolutos will gradually be introduced to other global markets throughout the year.
From the very first draw, the Ramón Allones Absolutos delivers an unexpectedly creamy and smooth start, accompanied by subtle notes of berries. Its remarkable roundness gives it a pronounced sweetness, making for an intriguing and delightful introduction. The first few puffs are truly divine.
As the cigar develops, its aromatic profile gradually shifts toward woody and tanned leather notes, with a fresh touch of green pepper spice lingering on the palate. The aging of the tobacco is immediately apparent, with well-balanced, harmonious, and refined flavors.
The second third becomes increasingly complex, showcasing the unmistakable Ramón Allones signature. The presence of leather and spices intensifies, but in a controlled and masterful way. The burn is flawless, with a pure white ash that speaks to the cigar’s exceptional quality. The construction is dense, with a perfect draw, while the smoke itself is unexpectedly light and delicate. The Ramón Allones Absolutos is only the fourth Edición Limitada in the brand’s storied history. The first, the Allones Extra, was released in 2011, followed by the Club Allones in 2015. The third, the Allones No. 2, debuted in 2019. Now, in 2024, the Absolutos joins this prestigious lineup, further cementing Ramón Allones’ reputation for excellence and innovation.
