San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 Humidor
A commemorative humidor for the 20th anniversary of the brand and the 500th anniversary of Havana!
Founded in 1519 by the Spanish, the Cuban capital recently celebrated its 500th anniversary.
In February 2019, to commemorate this half-millennium of existence, Habanos paid tribute to the Cuban capital on the occasion of the XXI Festival del Habano through the San Cristóbal de la Habana brand, which at the same time celebrated its 20th anniversary.
This double anniversary was the occasion for Habanos to present an exclusive humidor, produced in a limited edition of 500, the San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519, adding a new special production to the brand's catalogue. The San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 is the successor to the San Cristóbal de la Habana 5 Aniversario Humidor, which was also produced in a limited edition of 500 to celebrate the brand's 5th anniversary in 2004.
Inside the San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 Humidor, there are 100 "Roque" (57 x 170 mm), an original vitola, specially created for the occasion. It is a generously sized "parejo" for aficionados who like large vitolas and prolonged moments of pleasure.
The 500 humidors produced, each containing 100 cigars, give us a total production of 50,000 cigars, hand-rolled by the most experienced Torcedors from leaves coming from the prestigious Vuelta Abajo region. To reinforce the exclusive character of these cigars, they are dressed with a special band, stamped "500 Aniversario", derived from the brand's standard band.
In recent years, commemorative humidors have become one of the most eagerly awaited specialities among cigar lovers and collectors worldwide. Inspired by the history of the Cuban capital, the San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 Humidor is a true work of art and a valuable collector's item for aficionados of the brand and its classic yet distinctive flavours.
The humidor itself is made entirely of authentic cedar from Cuba's westernmost province of Pinar del Rio, a unique wood species renowned for the aroma and flavour it offers to Habanos.
The classic yet modern design of the San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 Humidor features an ancient map of the city of Havana as well as strong elements related to the city's history, such as the various fortresses built between the 16th and 18th centuries that defended Havana. The decoration is meticulously sculpted on the top of the humidor and is enhanced by gold inserts. Of course, the brand's logo, topped by the inscription "500 Aniversario", is proudly affixed to the centre. Let's also note the presence of 5 cigar-stands in the shape of a gun carriage, nestled in a special compartment, which once deployed, allow you to arrange your cigar and thus form a real artillery piece.
This real masterpiece is the result of the work of a group of artists, called DeCuba "Arte en Maderas", specialised in the creation of wooden works and truly passionate about Cuban culture.
