The first legal alembic of the French capital!
Nestled at the bottom of a courtyard in the very heart of 10th district in Paris, where the clandestine distillers of Emile Zola's novel “l'Assommoir” (1876) used to operate, there can be found the first legal still in the French capital!
The 10th Parisian district, and more precisely the street du Faubourg Saint-Denis, was not chosen by chance as it offers a concentration of culinary pleasures. Moreover, the famous Julhès Paris grocery stores have a special place there: wine merchants, cheese makers, butchers, bakers, chocolate makers, pastry chefs and caterers.
Thus, after developing their network of fine grocery stores, Sébastien and Nicolas Julhès decided to go further by combining their culture of taste, their experience in gastronomy and their passion for spirits and make their dream come true: make the heart of a still beat in the place they were once banned!
After five years of negotiations in order to obtain a derogatory status and an authorization to distil, they presented the first spirits elaborated and produced in Paris intramuros: the Distillerie de Paris was born!
More than a simple manufacturer of alcoholic beverages, the Distillerie de Paris is above all a creative laboratory. Here, the Julhès brothers reinvent gins, whiskies and rums and also elaborate new spirits such as maple vermouth. With the help of their small but charming German alembic, they take care of all the steps of spirit production: from elaboration to labelling the bottles.
Distillerie de Paris is a centre of reflections on spirits and, more generally, on tastes. It is a place where creativity and experimentation are united resulting in innovative distillates. Creations follow one another in the sandstone of inspirations.
A combination of expertise, scrupulously selected raw materials and a touch of intuition allow the Distillerie de Paris to offer a wide range of spirits: gins, flavoured vodkas, brandy, aged spirits (minimum 3 years old), whisky as well as some other beverages (liqueur, rum and some others) and limited editions spirits.
