Trinidad Farm House Humidor

The first sculpture-shaped humidor of Habanos for public sale.

The city of Trinidad, located on the southern coast of Cuba, is a real gem. Its historic center, with its colonial architecture, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988.

This splendour was built in the 18th and 19th centuries during the sugar boom. During this period of prosperity, Spanish merchants from the Los Ingenios valley, the "valley of the sugar factories" located east of the city of Trinidad, built these opulent mansions. The red terracotta roofs and brightly coloured facades, richly decorated with beautiful wrought iron work, form a veritable open-air museum that can be explored along the magnificent cobbled streets of the time.

If the Trinidad cigar brand is a tribute to the city, the humidor we present today is a tribute to its architectural heritage.

Inspired by these picturesque houses, the Trinidad Farm House humidor has truly marked the history of Cuban craftsmanship. Released in 2001, it is of historical significance as it is considered the first sculptural humidor produced in a limited edition for public sale. All previous humidors of this kind were given as gifts, such as the "Bohio" which we discuss in our Art & Culture article, or auctioned off at social events.

Each of the 100 pieces is individually numbered, by hand, from 001 (the one in the photo) to 100. The Hong Kong region has been allocated half of them, while the other half has been sold in the UK.

This very special humidor, made of cedar, contains 20 Trinidad cigars, 10 Fundadores and 10 Double Robustos.

Both have the same length, 192 mm. Only the cepo differentiates them: 50 for the Double Robustos and 40 for the Fundadores. The latter, a Laguito Especial, is the brand's emblematic vitola. It is also the pioneer of the brand. Its introduction coincided with the start of the brand's marketing in 1998. It will remain the only Trinidad available in regular production until 2003.

The Double Robustos is a vitola specially created for this humidor. Well, not exactly. Indeed, the Robustos Especiales of its factory name (Vitola de Galera), had been introduced for the first time in 1999 in the Siglo XXI Millennium Humidor, under the name Ensuenos. It was then renamed "Double Robustos" for the Trinidad Farm House. The Siglo XXI Millennium Humidor is a humidor, produced in only 21 pieces, commemorating the change of millennium. Inside, there are twenty brands in twenty drawers, with individual boxes for each vitola.

If you consider the number of Trinidad Robustos Especiales rolled for the millennium humidor (420) and the Trinidad Farm House (1,000), this makes for an extremely exclusive total production: 1,420 worldwide!

Unfortunately, we were not able to do a tasting for this article as the precious contents of the Trinidad Farm House Humidor are so rare and exclusive!

In any case, both the Fundadores and the Double Robustos are cigars for connoisseurs. Such a ring gauge for such a length requires more experience to appreciate them at their true value. Drawing too quickly or too often would heat up the cigar and alter the taste, which, given their age, must be absolutely magnificent!

The rare collectors who have, or will have, the chance to own one of the 100 examples of the Trinidad Farm House are or will be in possession of a piece that will have marked the history of the Trinidad brand and more widely the history of Habanos.
