Montecristo, Partagás & Hoyo de Monterrey 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Jars
Three exclusive jars to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China, Cambodia and Vietnam.
The year 2020 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China, Cambodia and Vietnam. The Pacific Cigar Company, founded in 1992 by David Tang, the official importer of Habanos for the Asia-Pacific region, is celebrating the event with three ceramic jars, exclusively for the Asia-Pacific region.
This new limited production is reminiscent of the Bolívar Distinguidos jar, released in 2001, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China.
So, 10 years later, three different jars are now arriving to celebrate this new anniversary. Each of them is produced in a limited edition of 1,000 individually numbered and contains 25 Habanos, making a total of 75,000 cigars for 3,000 jars. The Bolívar brand has given way to 3 other brands, qualified as "Global Brands", namely Montecristo, Partagás and Hoyo de Monterrey. Each brand is attributed to a different Asian nation:
China - Cuba Jar: Filled with 25 Edmundos, the Montecristo jar commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Middle Kingdom and Cuba, which began in September 1960. Each cigar is dressed with a double band. The first is the brand's classic band, the second represents the flag of China.
Cambodia - Cuba Jar: Filled with 25 Epicure No. 2, the Hoyo de Monterrey jar commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Cuba, which began in April 1960. Each cigar is dressed with a triple band. The band of the brand, the ring of the vitola and an additional ring representing the flag of Cambodia.
Vietnam - Cuba Jar: Filled with 25 Series D No. 4, the Partagás jar commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Dragon of Asia and Cuba, which began in December 1960. This made Cuba the first country in the Western Hemisphere to have diplomatic ties with Vietnam. Each cigar comes with a double band. The first is the classic vitola band, the second represents the flag of Vietnam.
Each of the three jars bears a stylised drawing representing a rat, as a testimony to this anniversary year, falling in the year of the rat, the first animal in the Chinese zodiac cycle!
