Partagás Capitols - Línea Retro
The return of a name and packaging that disappeared in the 1980s.
Announced at the end of 2017 by Habanos S.A., the second cigar of the Línea Retro finally arrives in Switzerland: the Partagás Capitols. The Partagás Capitols join the Romeo y Julieta Club Kings in this selection. Línea Retro is expected to welcome other cigars from other brands from the Habanos portfolio in the future.
The name "Capitols" is borrowed from an old branded vitola, a Petit Cetros (40 x 129 mm), officially abandoned in 2001, but has apparently not been seen since the mid-1980s.
Carefully arranged in a "retro" looking aluminium case, these were inspired by the original pocket cigar holders that were popular in the 1970s. The Capitols are like the Club Kings, Marevas (42 x 129 mm), a vitola still widely used by Habanos brands. Otherwise known as Petit Corona, this size is considered one of the references for the cigar industry in Cuba.
Thanks to the Capitols, the Partagás brand once again includes the Marevas in its regular catalogue. In fact, the vitola had disappeared since 2002 following the cessation of production of the Petit Coronas.
