The House of Grauer organizes a tasting evening of spirits from the Bordeaux distillery Moon Harbour.

On the cobblestones of the Port de la Lune.

The Moon Harbour distillery is located near the port of Bordeaux, in the former bunker built between 1941 and the end of 1943. The latter was intended to protect the fuel tank supplying the submarine base and the surrounding rolling stock.

The 6-meters thick walls of the bunker made it possible to create the perfect ageing cellar. Indeed, the humidity and temperature inertia are ideal for the maturation process of the spirits in the barrels.

The traditional and local distillation system is provided by a copper Stupfler still, specially designed for Moon Harbour and its unique distillation process.

John McDougall, a whisky specialist with 42 years of experience in whisky consultancy in the Islay and Speyside regions, is now working with Yves Medina and Jean-Philippe Ballanger, the two founders of Moon Harbour distillery.

The cereals used to create the company's products are harvested locally in Saint-Jean-d'Illac. The malting of the corn is done directly at the distillery, in a special annex room of the bunker.
